Junior Web Developer
We’re looking for a PHP web developer with at least one year of experience, either in a commercial environment or as an indie developer at home.

Second2, a member of Adventis Group plc, is a full-service creative marketing agency specialising in technology channel marketing. Our customers include Toshiba, Hitachi, EMC, HTC, Trend Micro and Microsoft. We also work with non-technology customers for example working recently with a city law firm, an investment bank and a housing development. Second2 currently employs over 40 professionals across the client services, studio and development teams.
We’re looking to add a full-time junior member to the development team to work on new and ongoing web development projects for our clients. A suitable candidate needs to be dedicated, self-motivated and a highly-skilled programmer. Since the role is customer-facing the successful candidate will be outgoing and have excellent written and spoken communication skills including fluent English.
Our chosen technologies for web development are PHP Symfony for rapid development, TYPO3 for WCMS and jQuery for user interaction.
The role is based in the Beaconsfield office but will also involve occasional travel to meet with clients.
Essential
- Object orientated PHP
- HTML+CSS
- Familiarity with the ins and out of Javascript
- Experience with Linux/Unix shells
- Experience of version control systems
- Knowledge of software development methodologies and documentation techniques
- An attention to detail
- An interest in social media and technological trends
- A dislike of corner-cutting
Desirable
- Experience of web services API integration
- Use of the Symfony, CakePHP, Zend or Smarty PHP frameworks
- Use of jQuery, Mootools, Scriptalicious or Prototype
- Knowledge in the field of UX
- Agile and testing-lead development
- Familiarity with search engine optimisation techniques
- Experience with SVN/CVS/Git
- Flash AS3/Flex/AIR experience
